Glasstress 2011
Glasstress is an annual review, started in 2008, on the use of glass in contemporary art. Alongside the exhibition of works by artists of the twentieth century - including Joseph Albers, Man Ray, Anton Pevsner, Lucio Fontana, Robert Rauschenberg - the event involves contemporary artists such as Fred Wilson, Tony Cragg, Vuk Muniz, Javier Pérez, Thomas Schutte, Patricia Urquiola. Artists, architects but also musicians and writers interact with the glass masters of Murano to translate thoughts and images into matter.
From 2008 to 2015 +fortuna curated the visual identity of the event (image, layout, publications), working and dialoguing with artists and designers.
The image conceived for each edition is founded on the interaction between works, visual project and typography.
The 2011 edition of Glasstress, a collateral event of the 54th Venice Biennale of Art , in collaboration with the Museum of Art and Design of New York, saw the presence of 123 artistsincluding Jan Fabre, Zaha Hadid, Jaume Plensa, Kiki Smith , Barbara Bloom, Koen Vanmechelen. The image chosen to represent this edition is a reinterpretation of Konstantin Khudyakov's work Mirrors, a portrait of Jean Blanchaert.
